Especially in summer, Leipzig’s numerous waterways invite you to explore them in a refreshingly different way. At the city harbour or at Boat Hire Klingerweg, you can choose your favourite means of transport from numerous options: Stand-up paddling boards, canoes, dragon boats or motor and rowing boats leave nothing to be desired. And then it’s off into the cool water! On the city’s quiet waterways, the journey is the reward.

Enjoy a leisurely trip along the Karl Heine Canal to discover and marvel at a new (and very green) side of Leipzig. The route takes you under old iron bridges and past former industrial heritage and ageing brick buildings, modern buildings, playful city villas and trendy restaurants and cafés. If you haven’t had enough romantic idyll in the middle of the city, you can paddle along the Elstermühlgraben through the even greener alluvial forest and sail to the beloved ‘Cossi’, Lake Cospuden and Leipzig’s local recreation destination.
