In the west of Leipzig, you would actually only find disused, dreary industrial sites… if it weren’t for the ingenuity that sprouts like flowers from old brickwork and brings everything back to life! It’s not for nothing that Plagwitz is considered a trendy and creative neighbourhood and is home to a peculiar, inspiring mix of industrial culture, waterways, city villas, nature, lots of culinary delights – and above all: art. If the thought of art makes you feel bored rather than excited, then you really must make a detour to Plagwitz: Let yourself be seduced and, above all, whisked away to the Kunstkraftwerk!
Even hardened art philistines can no longer escape the magic of art here. The creative power of Leipzig’s creative and innovative minds will carry you away with a breath of fresh air into the world of colours, shapes and sounds. Laser projectors, light shows and music create special exhibitions in the old thermal power station that will inspire you! If you’ve really got a taste for it afterwards, you can visit the (former) cotton mill in neighbouring Lindenau. Artists from all disciplines have set up their productive camps here and let you look over their shoulders as they create… When art becomes an experience!
